3 Of 17 Schools are not ready to open on Monday, November 9 – Troy High, Albert Town High, and Tranquility Primary and Infant School are three of the 17 schools that opted out of the two-week pilot programme for the reopening of select low-risk schools.

Jamaica Teachers Association (JTA) President Jasford Gabriel says there have been meetings with 73 schools regarding the possibility of being opened but a date was not set.

Gabriel says despite miscommunication he does not believe a school in a low risk area is a sufficient source to collect the data required to make a decision on whether to have a national move to reopen schools.

Meanwhile, President of the National Parent Teacher Association Mitzie Harris Dillon says despite being a member of the COVID-19 Task Force they were still not officially advised as to which schools would be participating in the pilot programme.
