Three men are dead after falling into a septic tank at the Moneague College in St. Ann, Monday, September 6. The men employed at Central Cesspool Limited were reportedly cleaning the sewer system when they encountered difficulties.

What appeared to be a normal routine of cleaning the septic tank at the Moneague College in St. Ann, ended tragically on Monday. The lifeless bodies of 46-year-old Kirk Kerr and 56-year-old Joslyn Henry laid on the cold concrete, minutes after being pulled out of the cesspit.

Deputy Superintendent of Police Linton Bailey provided insight into what occurred, as he stated that first employee went into the septic tank and was not seen for a while, which forced the second and then the third employee to investigate the matter. Kerr and Henry were pronounced dead at the scene, while 46-year-old Beresford Gordon was rushed to the hospital. Gordon died while undergoing treatment on Tuesday, September 7.

Preliminary reports suggest that the men contracted to Central Cesspool Limited were knocked unconscious as a result of noxious waste fumes emitting from the disposal system. The men are all from separate addresses in Spanish Town, St. Catherine. It is uncertain if they were wearing any protective gear, investigators were seen combing the scene for additional evidence.
