18 Market Fires; Surge in Arson Attacks on Markets

A concerning surge in arson attacks has resulted in the destruction of at least three markets in Eastern Jamaica over the past month. These devastating fires have left numerous vendors without a means of livelihood. Minister of Local Government, Desmond McKenzie, confirms that investigations indicate the majority of these fires were deliberately set.

Minister McKenzie strongly urges individuals to refrain from engaging in this destructive practice, emphasizing that it not only causes significant financial losses for the government but also disrupts the lives of many individuals and communities.
