The Education Ministry has announced plans to proceed with face to face learning in some 129 schools across the country this month.

This, despite uncertainty surrounding new variants of the coronavirus in Jamaica. The new strains of the virus are believed to be more transmissible.

The local health experts will know in coming weeks if samples sent for testing in Trinidad from Jamaica are positive for these new COVID-19 variants.

Meanwhile, the Chief Medical Officer advises a new variant may not necessarily give rise to an extended closure physical schools.
