JTA Concerned By Education Ministry’s Plan To Reopen School June 8- In just over two weeks, secondary school students will be in the classroom in preparation for the CXC exams beginning July 27. An announcement made by the Minister with responsibility for Education, Karl Samuda, that is not resting well with some parents and teachers.

President of the Jamaica Teachers’ Association, Owen Speid who isn’t in agreement with the move says many educators are suffering from anxiety in light of the uncertainty surrounding whether Covid-19 can be controlled. Though Minister Samuda had announced that modes of transportation would be put into place, Speid is questioning whether this will be adequate when school reopens.

He says the JTA will not relent in its quest to have educators and students operate in the confines of a safe environment with all the requisite resources
