Jamaica is well on its way to attaining pre-covid economic status, as the economy is slated to grow another 4.4 percent this year.  That is according to Finance Minister Dr. Nigel Clarke, as he boasts Jamaica is one of the only countries to bounce back so swiftly from the pandemic.

Dr. Clarke says after a ten percent decline in 2020, the economy grew by five percent in 2021, all while the unemployment rate has fallen to one of the lowest in Jamaica’s history.

The Minister says there is proof of the strides being made by the government, noting there is an influx of job opportunities across several industries.

He goes further, noting there are multiple infrastructural developments taking place across Jamaica, geared toward achieving economic recovery and an enhanced quality of life.

The Minister was speaking at the annual Hughenden Divisional Conference at Pembrokehall High school on Thursday.
