Horace Chang Defends Gov’t Decision to Implement SOE in St. Catherine and Clarendon
Minister of National Security Dr. Chang is defending the Government’s decision to implement a State of Public Emergency (SOE) in the parishes of St. Catherine and Clarendon.
This brings the total number of active military zones across the island to six.
Speaking to CVM LIVE on Friday, Horace Chang says there is enough evidence to prove that the government’s crime-fighting initiative is successful.
The SOEs will run for 14 days, after which the Prime Minister will have to seek Parliamentary approval for an extension.
The Minister says the purpose of the SOEs is to “save lives, reduce hemorrhaging of lives and give the government and police time to build out security architecture.”
