Less than a month after school reopened for face-to-face learning for the new school year and already the sector is overwhelmed by grief. Grief over a tragic end met by a student and Cadet member from the Kingston Technical High School

Principal Maulton Campbell says a day later the loss was evident. Campbell notes much support has been provided by other institutions and the Education Ministry proving critical to their coping mechanism. He says the tragedy underscores more conflict resolution skills are needed in schools and communities.

Lamenting the fact that over the past few years the school has had a fairly peaceful operation, he says it remains a mystery how the student evaded security searches with a weapon.

The principal says the school remains a safe space for teaching and learning aside from the latest tragedy.
