Citizens are again being warned to always be on the lookout for counterfeit money/notes after a recent seizure of thousands of fake US dollars by the St. Andrew South police.

Citizens and business operators are being warned to keep an eye out for counterfeit money, especially as the holiday season approaches.

Head of the criminal investigations portfolio for the St. Andrew South Police Division, Deputy Superintendent Hemford Wade tells CVM Live, over us $80,000 in counterfeit notes were seized on October 8.

He says the discovery was made during the purchase of a motorcycle. 

Deputy Superintendent Wade notes the police are of the view that finding money of this nature, is an indication, there may be more being circulated. 

Meanwhile, he says four persons were initially taken into custody in relation to the counterfeit notes; following an investigation, one man was charged. A court date is pending.
