Ambassador Anthony Johnson is dead. He wore many hats, which includes being a former Jamaica Labour Party Member of Parliament and Senator. He is the father of the current Minister of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade, Kamina Johnson Smith. Also, leaving behind three other children and his wife.
Ambassador Johnson became a member of the Jamaica Labour Party in 1980. He served as a Senator and later as the Member of Parliament for North East St. Catherine. He held various portfolio responsibilities including, technology, education and agriculture, Among others.
The Office of Prime Minister Andrew Holness in a release today said, “he led a life that can only be described as selfless having made invaluable contributions to both the private and public sectors and as an educator lecturing at the University of the West Indies for many years.”
Notably, Ambassador Johnson is the first Jamaican council member of Parliamentarians for Global Action.
