Haiti&rsquo;s new Permanent Representative to the Organization of American States (OAS), Myrtha D&eacute;sulm&eacute;, officially presented her credentials to OAS Secretary General Luis Almagro during a formal ceremony at the Organization&rsquo;s headquarters in Washington, D.C.
Ambassador D&eacute;sulm&eacute; reaffirmed Haiti&rsquo;s commitment to upholding democratic principles, promoting human rights, enhancing security, and fostering sustainable development. She emphasized the OAS&rsquo;s vital role in strengthening regional solidarity and addressing pressing crises. &ldquo;The OAS has a key role to play in strengthening hemispheric solidarity and in finding lasting solutions to the crises that affect us. It is with this conviction that I stand at your disposal to work with you to build a future based on stability, prosperity, and mutual respect,&rdquo; she stated.
In response, Secretary General Almagro reiterated the OAS&rsquo;s unwavering support for Haiti. &ldquo;Under Haiti&rsquo;s leadership, we are doing everything we can to assist with the policies your government has outlined. We are here to support you, and I have instructed the General Secretariat to continue providing any assistance your government needs to advance peacebuilding initiatives, enhance security, and return to democratic norms,&rdquo; he said.
The ceremony, held at the OAS headquarters, was attended by diplomats accredited to the hemispheric Organization.
