Opposition Spokesperson on Transport and Works Mikael Phillips is calling for greater dialogue between stakeholders in the sector, to see if a compromise can be reached on several contentious points within the industry.

The Shadow Minister is not satisfied with the state of the Transport Industry and is calling for Minister of Transport Robert Montague to address what he is calling a ‘rot’ in the sector.

Of particular concern to Phillips are the new requirements and charges that are being applied to transport operators. He also believes further dialogue would be appropriate.

The Member of Parliament for Manchester North Western is also questioning a tender that was put out for the franchising of 10 routes in Portmore, that the Jamaica Urban Transit Company (JUTC) currently has rights for.
