The man who stabbed and killed a Jamaica College student while on a bus in the Half-Way-Tree area in 2016 has been sentenced to life.

Quacie Hart, the convicted man was handed a life sentence in the Home Circuit Court in Downtown Kingston for the stabbing death of 14 year old Nicholas Francis.

The judge who handed down the sentence ordered Hart to served 31 years behind bars before he becomes eligible for parole.

Nicholas was stabbed by Hart in October 2016 while traveling home on a bus when he refused to hand over his wrist watch to Hart who demanded it.

Nicolas later died while undergoing treatment at the hospital.

The judge, while handing down sentencing says the crime deserves 40 years but she shaved 10 per cent off of his sentence due to the fact that Hart had a good community report and pleaded guilty just before his murder trial.
