Jamaica’s quest to bridge the digital gap is about to get a boost. This follows the planned launch of ReadyNet, a subsidy of Ready Communication limited; operators of Jamaica’s first and only digital broadcast network.
Ready Communications will be partnering with Viasat, a leading global satellite operator delivering high-speed satellite capacity in the Americas.
Communities once deprived of internet connectivity will be able to access high-speed internet as a result of this partnership.
The residents in the community of Mullet Hall, nestled in the Blue Mountains in Portland will be able to connect to the wider world via the internet when this service is officially launched on Thursday August 22, 2019.
Other parts of the island are also expected to be brought on board to ensure Jamaicans have access to the internet.
Access vouchers with promotional codes will be available in a local stores and will be distributed daily to members of the community for free wifi access.
