Several tour operating companies are calling on the Ministry of Transport to review its GPS tracking system for public passenger vehicles.

The minister of transportation, Robert Montague announced during his sectoral debate in April that all public passenger vehicles will be require to be fitted GPS tracker by 2020 and effective for new public passenger vehicles.

But president of the Jamaica Co-operative Automobile and Limousine Tours, Donald Collamattey says more consultations are needed before the announced plan can go ahead.

Mr. Collamattey says while they are aware of the need to improve safety and security in the transportation sector, more consultation must be held.
