The government recently announced plans to develop Port Royal into Jamaica’s next cruise ship destination, however, there are concerns rising, as it relates to the basic physical structures and facilities that exist.
Mayor of the Kingston and St. Andrew municipal corporation (KSAMC) Delroy Williams conducted an analysis of the current state of infrastructure within the town, while on a tour of the area.
However, Member of Parliament for Kingston Eastern and Port Royal, Phillip Paulwell, believes more should be done for the constituents.
Buildings in the centre of the city are dilapidated and in need of repair, roadways need to be renovated and the sewage system requires improvement.
Mayor Williams says he and his team are working to address these issues in the shortest possible time, as the aim is to make Kingston a destination of choice.
