Many small vendors across the country are struggling to make ends meet due to the devastating economic effect of the COVID-19 pandemic. The virus has forced people to stay home to slow the spread of the virus but for other vendors business has been nothing but fruitful.

One fruit vendor operating in Portland says sales have increased as Jamaicans ensure their diets are rich in Vitamin C. The nightly curfew doesn’t affect his business hours.

According to him oranges and pineapples are in high demand, melon has also been at the top of customer lists. He notes that business gets busier mid-week, especially from elderly shoppers.

One natural juice operator says there has been a slight reduction in sales, but nothing devastating Since the arrival of the virus in Jamaica in early March, many have been taking steps to boost their immune system.
