Greater Investments are in place for Jamaica! So says State Minister in the Minister of Industry, Commerce, Agriculture and Fisheries, Floyd Green.

At the 2019 Caribbean Hotel Investment Conference and Operations Summit, Minister Green emphasized that the tourism industry places the country at a clear competitive advantage and  must have a suitable environment to flourish.

In addition to providing an additional 15, 000 rooms in the next 3-5 years, the Ministry is steadfast in also looking beyond tourism as persons are more likely to invest in our economy if there is greater ease of doing business in Jamaica.

Green commends the Jamaica Promotions Corporation (JAMPRO) as it continues to ensure the country’s tourism sector gets the needed exposure to propel the industry further.

The ministry is in the final stages of developing a national investment policy which will be tabled in cabinet.

“The implementation of this national investment policy will be complimented by a national business portal and will be an on-line, one stop shop for all those wishing to do business in Jamaica” Green reiterates.

Minister of Tourism, Edmond Bartlett is also encouraging local investment in the supply side of the economy. He is urging stakeholders to invest in the different areas that contribute to tourism such as agriculture and manufacturing, so both can reap the benefits from the tourist industry.
