We are already gearing up to eat in and dine out. From November 11th – 20th, Jamaica’s culinary landscape comes alive as chefs are cranking up the heat for restaurant week.

So we have compiled some tips to ensure we get the most out of the upcoming dining experience.

First, we are encouraging you to venture into the unknown when it comes to eating out, it is easy to stick with what you know. But too much of a good thing can also get boring. So this year, do not be scared to choose a restaurant that you and your friends have not visited yet. 

Try playing restaurant roulette by visiting a different restaurant for each course and remember that there is more to a menu than chicken alfredo pasta.

Next up, we are making dinner more engaging with the shared experience.

You are going to stretch over into your friend’s plate anyway, so why not try to avoid food envy by trying out spots where food sharing is a part of the experience. Think along the lines of tapas, Korean barbeque, mezze, or sushi.

And of course, we will be meeting fellow foodies during our night’s outs so go ahead and make some new friends.

One major change that occurred during the pandemic was that we wound up dramatically shrinking our social circles, so if you happen to be as hungry for connection as you are for dinner, this is the perfect time for new connections.

And finally, we are covering the bills. Some habits die hard and, unfortunately, that includes the pain of splitting your bill at the end of your meal. Working out how much each of you owes individually is a headache for everyone including your waiter.

Make the experience easier by simply asking for separate bills at the beginning of your meal, or assigning one card and have your friends reimburse you later.

Whatever you do please, please do not bicker over bills at the table.
