The common cold and influenza (flu) are infections of the upper respiratory system which includes the nose, mouth, throat, and lungs. Viruses are responsible for the infections. Many symptoms of the cold and flu are similar. However, cold symptoms are usually milder and develop more slowly than flu symptoms.
Some symptoms of cold and flu include fever, runny nose, stuffy nose, headache, body aches, fatigue, exhaustion, chills, sweat, loss of appetite, sneezing, cough, watery eyes, chest congestion, and discomfort.
Cold and flu can be treated with over-the-counter medicines and in addition to these prescription medications, a vaccine shot/ vaccine can treat and prevent the flu.
