Jamaica is currently experiencing an increase in teacher migration as the new academic year is set to commence shortly. Despite this, there are many teachers who remain committed to living and working in Jamaica. Some are even undertaking volunteer initiatives to develop and prepare students for examinations. A mother-daughter educator duo and friends have volunteered to provide free Language Arts Primary Exit Profile (PEP) classes in Eastern, St Thomas. The Arcadia Primary School in St Thomas recently benefited from a five-day Language Arts Explosion which ran from August 15-19, 2022. A total of thirty -five (35) students received Language Arts Primary Exit Profile (PEP) classes. This initiative was spearheaded by the mother-daughter educator duo of Sharon Mitchell and Roshane Reid, residents of the Arcadia District in St Thomas.

This activity is the brainchild of Reid, an Adjunct Lecturer at the University of Technology, who revealed that the idea for these free language arts Primary Exit Profile classes came to her while she was hand washing at the back of her home.
