A cosmetic dentist conducts a variety of procedures such as major surgeries. Some of the cosmetic dentistry procedures offered are teeth whitening, dental veneers, dental crowns, inlays and onlays, dental implants, and dental bonding.

Teeth whitening is one of the basic cosmetic dentistry procedures as well as one of the most cost-effective procedures. Over time the teeth can become stained from food, drinks, and medications, among other things. After teeth have been cleaned of plaque and tartar, teeth whitening can bleach the surface of the teeth leaving it brighter and whiter in appearance.

Furthermore, dental veneers are thin, white shells made from medical-grade porcelain, resin, or ceramic. They are specifically designed for each patient to resemble their natural teeth. These are used to cover procedures, like root canals, enamel fillings, dental bridges and dental implants.

Inlays and Onlays, are popularly known as indirect fillings, used when a tooth is decayed. These fillings are created in a dental laboratory and bonded in place by a cosmetic dentist. An “inlay” is when the material is bonded in the center of the tooth. An “onlay” is when the filling covers one or more parts of the tooth or covers the tooth’s entire surface.

Dental Implants is another set of cosmetic procedures that is practised. When a tooth decay or loss, dental implants are used to replace teeth. A Cosmetic Dentist can also apply a moldable resin to the tooth and harden it with ultraviolet light, this procedure is known as dental bonding. The mold is trimmed, shaped, and polished to blend in with a normal tooth.

There are many reasons you might see a cosmetic dentist, including tooth decay, damage (cracks, chips, etc.), crooked teeth, misshapen teeth, discoloration and missing teeth.
