Over 70 years of service: Tropical Battery’s Daniel Melville shares his story – This business executive was born in Kingston, grew up in St Ann but spent his teenage years in Canada. He has spent almost 15 years in the Tourism and Hospitality Industry – as General Manager and Sales and Marketing Director at Chukka Caribbean Adventure’s White River Valley Property.
In 2014 he transitioned to being the Director of Sales and Marketing at Tropical Battery Limited- a leading distributor of automotive batteries in Jamaica. Tropical Battery has almost doubled its sales over the past five years and in late September listed on the junior market of the Jamaica Stock Exchange.
Tropical battery is a household name in Jamaica. What some viewers may not know is that the company was founded in the 1950s by an American businessman. Over a decade later it was purchased by John Melville and remains in the Melville family to this day.
