Attorney General Marlene Malahoo Forte is underscoring the need for the presence of States of Emergency (SOE) and Zones of Special Operation (ZOSO) across the island. She says Jamaica’s high murder rate is “not normal.”
Speaking exclusively with CVM LIVE on August 7, Mrs Malahoo Forte said these crime-fighting initiatives are in place to ensure that opportunities to commit crimes are minimized.
The AG said the government has noted the concerns of citizens, particularly concerns of feeling cages as a result of curfews imposed by SOEs and ZOSOs.
Mrs Malahoo Forte says the government has no intention of depriving Jamaicans of their livelihoods. She also says adjustments to curfew times are to be expected in the coming week.
