Police see an increase in Intra Gang Warfare – There has been a reduction in major crimes such as murder, rape, robbery, and break-ins. However, the Commissioner of Police Major General Antony Anderson says the police are dealing with an increase in shootings. The Commissioner says three categories of violence have seen an increase in recent weeks.
These are intra gang, illegal parties and domestic violence. The commissioner says as the police disrupt gangs, there is a marked increase in intra gang killings as the members clash to take control of what’s left of the gangs.
As it relates to the Spanish Town-based Klansman gang Major General Anderson says the force has made a major blow in its operations.
The Commissioner is urging persons to desist from attending illegal gatherings as these are becoming deadly venues as gangsters confront each other.
The Commissioner also notes that the increase island wide police presence will go on until January 2021.
