Detective Sergeant Sheldon Dobson was brought before the St Elizabeth Parish Court and charged with manslaughter following the death of his 18-month-old daughter. The policeman was granted bail in the sum of 750 thousand dollars. The father allegedly forgot his child in his car for several hours while he worked.

After being charged for the January 17 incident, Dobson was subsequently released. His Attorney At Law, Thomas Levene says despite the ruling being unfavorable, he believes it was simply a matter of judicial process. He adds that he and his client are trusting in fair, and just proceedings for the duration of the trial. Shaleah Dobson died two days after being left in the back of her father’s car for several hours, while he reported for work at the black river police station.

The child’s mother is also a sergeant of police in the same St Elizabeth division. Sergeant Dobson is scheduled to return to court on October 25, in Balaclava, St. Elizabeth.
